JEREMIAH 33: 6-7 FOUNDATION
A Prophecy of Hope
A Prophecy of Hope
“I WILL heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security.”
—Jeremiah 33:6-7.
Yes, that’s the verse after which Jeremiah 33: 6-7 Foundation, our shelter for abused minor girls, has been named. For indeed, they need healing from the ordeal they went through. And indeed, our Foundation has received abundant blessings from generous supporters.
Like the Laguna Bel-Air Caring Community. The Community members include residents of Laguna Bel-Air in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, as well as business owners in the village.
According to its website, the mission of the Community is to grow quality and empowered LBA members through a culture that upholds the values of love, friendship, respect, and generosity.
And recently, through its Foundation, the Laguna Bel-Air Caring Community donated gifts to our Jeremiah Foundation.
Flashback!
In the Bible, in the Old Testament, God chose the nation of Israel
from whose descendants the Messiah, Jesus Christ, would be born. God appointed their patriarch, Abraham, to be the father of all nations and rewarded him with the Promised Land, Canaan. One of the descendants of Abraham was Judah, who founded his kingdom south of Jerusalem, which Israel declared as its capital.
In the 10th Century Before Christ (B.C.) though, God’s chosen people, the Israelites, fell into corruption and sin. Thus, through prophets like Jeremiah, God warned that the people would be conquered by enemy tribes. And indeed, in 721 B. C., Israel fell to the Assyrians. In time, in 586 B. C., Assyria was conquered by Babylon, so Israel fell to the Babylonian Empire, and Jerusalem, including the Israelites’ sacred Temple, was destroyed.
At this time, Jeremiah prophesied God’s promise of hope for the Israelite nation: Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security. I will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel, and rebuild them as they were at first. — Jeremiah 33: 6-7.
It was after Jeremiah 33:6-7 that Bro. Reylindo E. Ortega, a devoted member of our Light of Jesus Family, named this
Ministry for abused girls to give them hope for healing and renewal
So, Jeremiah 33: 6-7 Foundation is a shelter for young girls, particularly victims of sexual abuse.
It aims to guide the girls in their journey toward a happy, healthy Christian life.
To do this, Jeremiah provides psycho-spiritual counseling to the girls while taking care of their daily needs.
The Foundation opened in Dansalan, Mandaluyong. on November 27, 2012, taking in two girls as its first clients. With two more girls joining in March 2013, they needed a bigger place. They moved to Pineda, Pasig City, only to move again to another house in the same area in July to accommodate more girls seeking shelter and care. In April 2014, with 15 girls in their care, they transferred to Pasig Green Park Village.
Comforting Prophecy
The Jeremiah 33: 6-7 Foundation center, led by Sis. Jing Apuhin, Executive Director, is now in Rodriguez (Montalban), Rizal, where we have our Anawim Home for the Abandoned Elderly, in the greenery property donated to the Light of Jesus Family by Sis. Trinidad Mangahas.
Canaan, the Promised Land, was in the territory called Southern Levant, today includes Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, Jordan, and the southern portions and Lebanon.
So, yes, we’d do well to have Prophet Jeremiah with us today, comforting our girls as well as our world with the promise God declared ages ago:
“I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security.”
