‘For I Was Homeless… ‘
LONGTIME viewers of The FEAST FAMILY know by now that He Cares Mission serves street children– gets them off the streets, takes care of them in the He Cares building shelter in Quezon City.
He Cares Missions provides the children food, clothing, education, medical care, and most important, spiritual nourishment.
It all started with Bro. Joe Dean Sola, himself once a wayward teen, practically living on the streets.
By Divine Grace, he found his way to the Light of Jesus Family, from there built He Cares Mission, flourishing with the support and dedication of his capable wife Ardis.
A Child Needs a Home
Still, even with the many benefits they have been receiving, children living on the streets need a home.
That need became more pronounced at the onslaught of the Coronavirus Disease Pandemic in early 2020 and subsequently, the lockdown that prevented the spread of the disease.
Families were not able to visit their children, and far away from their loved ones, wouldn’t the children inevitably sink into loneliness if not utter despair?
So, what about having a home where a child and his/her family would be together –like they should?
Also, with the lockdown, it was difficult to get to the sources for the children’s food.
So, what about building the homes in a farm where the families can directly get their food sources?
The Good News of late, aside from the initial shelter building, He Cares Mission bought a 5.3 hectare land in Bulacan and asked for support from friends, among them, our Light of Jesus Family Feast.
Earlier, Bro. Joe Dean and our LOJ founder, Bro. Bo Sanchez, became best friends. So, when Bro. Joe Dean started He Cares Mission, Bro. Bo promptly led the Light of Jesus Family to be among the staunchest supporters of He Cares Mission. At right, Bro. Bo (seated

So, now, at the farm, He Cares Mission has built homes for the children and their families– thus they get their food sources just around their homes. And bonus: With volunteer agriculture experts, children already old enough to work learn livelihood skills as they help plant vegetables and fruit trees, and take care of chicken, ducks, and geese.
Yes, it’s a time to plant and a time to harvest–as Bro. Joe Dean posts online>
