ANAWIM Year 30
Loving the Abandoned Elderly
WE began on September 9, 1980, when Tito Gene Sanchez, and his wife, Tita Pilar, started the Light of Jesus Family at the garage of their home on Chicago Street, Quezon City, with daughters, from left: Chelle, Bubu, Tina, Pinkie, and Beckie, and only son, Bo.
In 1994, some LOJ members wanted to serve the Lord and become missionaries, going as far as giving up their lucrative jobs. Their desire was granted: a mission field on a five-hectare land at Sitio Tañag, Barangay San Isidro, Montalban, Rizal.
Bro. Bo then followed a leading of the Holy Spirit to put up a haven for the abandoned whom he called anawim, the Hebrew word for God’s poor.
By Divine Design, the Anawim Lay Missions (ALMS) was born in December 1994. And in March 1995, ALMS Foundation was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, as a non-stock, non-profit charitable foundation.
Here, Tita Pilar and Bro. Bo lead groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Anawim cottages. With them are the donors, from left: Erwin Bulatao, Aida Dy, Lynda Reyes, Donna and Rolly España.
AND NOW: ANAWIM YEAR 30!
This Special Day, we honor three decades of compassion, service, and God’s faithfulness for Anawim.
The day begins with a Thanksgiving Mass presided by Rev. Fr. Ivan Panistante, CICM.

Memories
By hosts Stella Marie Josefa Apao (extreme left), Anawim Admin and Human Resources supervisor, and Ruby Jean Albino,
Central Fundraising head, here are details of the joyful Anniversary program, beginning with a song by our beloved Lolos and Lolas with a slideshow of memories reflecting the joy, love, and life they’ve found in Anawim.
What an inspiring and touching performance from our dear Lolos and Lolas.
Welcome!
Bro. Arun Gogna, Feast Alabang District Builder, welcomes everyone to Anawim Year 30 celebration. He encouraged our Lolas and Lolos to receive the love supporters give them.
To the donors, he said what they have given to our elderly, they’ve given to God. God cannot be out-given, so they will receive back more than what they have given. So, Bro. Arun added, get ready to receive the blessings of the Cycle of Generosity.
